Client: A Leading UK Telecommunications Provider  |  Sector: Telecoms / Infrastructure  |  Service: IT Architecture

The Challenge

a leading UK telecommunications provider was accelerating a national full-fibre broadband rollout targeting over 14 million premises. The programme lacked a coherent end-to-end IT architecture to connect field operations, network inventory, provisioning, and customer fulfilment systems. Fragmented legacy platforms, multiple vendor contracts, and overlapping data domains were creating critical bottlenecks that threatened both delivery timelines and regulatory commitments.

Our Approach

DSK Solutions embedded an IT Architecture lead within the programme to design a unified technical blueprint spanning OSS/BSS transformation, network inventory modernisation, and end-to-end service activation. Working alongside the client’s internal architects and third-party delivery partners, we defined the integration standards, API contracts, and data governance principles that would underpin the entire rollout.

We structured the architecture across three parallel workstreams — Network Design & Inventory, Service Fulfilment & Provisioning, and Customer Experience & Assurance — each with clearly defined interfaces and governance checkpoints. A technology selection framework was developed to rationalise vendor tooling across the programme.

The Outcome

The architectural blueprint was delivered over 18 months and adopted as the programme standard across all delivery partners. Integration incidents reduced by 60% following the introduction of API governance. The architecture directly supported a £2.4B national infrastructure programme targeting 14M+ premises, with the design principles later informing the client’s wider network virtualisation strategy.
